Friends, world... mostly just Naomi.
I have taken the next big step.
That step is...
Oranges.
To explain: I think mostly people have at least two selves. The person they want to be, and the person they are. I've always wanted to be a really motivated, energetic, unstoppable person. And I'm really that person, only I'm that person about 20% of the time.
You see I'm just about the laziest person for the other 80% of the time. And while this applies to many categories of my life, my utter laziness really gets a chance to shine when it comes to eating food. If left to my own devices, I seldom eat things that require me to heat them, cut them, cook them, remove them from complicated packaging, get messy while eating them, use more than one utensil, and especially peel them. Oranges in particular have been a major obstacle in my attempts to overcome my food-related laziness, because not only do you have to peel them, find a place to dispose of the peel and then split them into parts in order to to eat them, but they are also exceptionally messy, so you can't do anything else while eating them. Which is really the worst.
But today I broke down that barrier, peeled an orange, split it into parts, ate it (resisting the itch to type or text or surf), washed my hands and disposed of the peel. It was really liberating. I feel I am on the cusp of something great. Really.
